1968 Began a career in the Theatre Arts at the Senior Academy Of Drama in New York City and studied Acting, Voice and Dance at HB Studios. Foxx then made his acting debut at the New York Shakespeare Festival in “Kumaliza.”
1969 Became a member of the Family Repertory Company and later became the co-producer and company manager handling day to day operations which included: grant writing, tour bookings, contract negotiations, and scheduling the training programs. The company toured schools, colleges and theaters on the East coast.
1973 Migrated to Seattle, WA and joined Black Arts/West company and appeared in numerous productions and became company manager in booking tours.
Directed his first productions Rags and Old Iron at the University of Washington
Ian founded Foxx Follies Productions and produced “Red, White and Blues” a bicentennial statement in rhythm which he also wrote and directed. Production then appeared on local television shows and later toured Colleges, Auditoriums and Theatres on the West coast.
1976 Moved to Los Angeles, CA and joined the “Inner City Cultural Center” as Production Stage Manager and Producer, worked with the “Los Angeles Actors Theatre Company,” “The Mark Taper Forum Lab,” and the “Ebony Showcase Theatre.”
Founded Foxx Follies Theatre workshop, Managing the facility rentals and tour bookings, directed and produced plays, grant writing and developed training programs to teach community youth in Theatre Arts, Co-produced summer youth training program “C.E.T.A” which created employment opportunities for the youth.
Produced and directed “Corner Boy” a television pilot based on the award winning book written by Herbert A. Simmons.
1982 Worked as an actor in television, film and commercials. Began producing products for television and film.
Founded Foxx Follies Video Production which produced., functions for schools, churches, corporations and fashion shows.
In conjunction with “Video Productions” and “M.A.S.A.I Films” produced music videos.
1990 Foxx enrolled in Los Angeles City College where he studied Creative Writing and Filmmaking and taught theatre at West Los Angeles College; producing various Theatrical Productions. Also developed projects for Television and Films.
Also worked as a actor in films, television and commercials.
1995 Began working for Corner Boy Production as Executive in Charge of Production re-teaming with author/businessman Herbert A. Simmons to distribute “Corner Boy” for Home Entertainment.
Developed a network of over 150 stores and Businesses to circulate the film “Corner Boy” and Turnaround Newsmagazine.
Founded “J.E.E.P” the Junior Entrepreneur Enterprise Program, a subsidiary to the Watts Foundation, a non-profit Charitable Education Production designed to introduce and train Youth Entrepreneurial skills. Foxx handled the day to gay operations, including administrative, promotions, distribution, and sales.
1998-present Hired as Staff Photographer at the Los Angeles Watts Times Newspaper contributing to numerous Publications.
2003-present Founded Photography By Services include: providing photography services for Corporate Clients, Entertainment, Award Shows, Sporting Events, Seminars, Products, Celebrations, etc.
2008 Wrote, produced and directed a short film “The Club” which is in development process to be converted into a feature film.
2009 Opened the Photography by Foxx Studio housing the main office and providing Headshots services in Studio City, CA
